After the first survey a colleague and me boarded a Hurtigruten vessel to deploy underwater recorders (the orange box in the picture) along the Antarctic Peninsula. The rugged terrain of this area creates its own climate with many sunny and cloudy days and much calmer seas than the Scotia Sea. In a year we will come back and pick up the recorders again and analysis when and which species of vocalizing marine mammals use the area and how much overlap there is with krill fishing and tourism.
